Well, dangit. All slush released.

15th January 2012 by Darwin 3 Comments

Hate to be the bearer of sad tidings, but I need to get this out for everyone asap. Due to the fact that I have no extra funds available for acquiring additional story rights and do not foresee having any such funds available until I get the works I have already offered on published in [...]

Slush Closed for a Bit

9th September 2011 by Darwin No Comments

Just a post to let everyone know that I’m closing the slush pile for a bit. I’m working on getting editing done on stories for the antho releases in September and juggling another revenue producing effort on the side, ergo, my time to read the submissions has been curtailed severely. I’ll do my best to [...]

Insert Witty and Insightful Post Here:

4th July 2011 by Darwin No Comments

Which is what I would have done had I managed to dodge the July 4 holiday. Sadly, this did not come to pass. My intention was to opine on something interesting and of immediate interest to the rising e-book crowd. With that plan thoroughly scuttled, I shall now do the minimum necessary to coast through [...]

Note About E-Book Availability

23rd June 2011 by Darwin No Comments

I am happy to announce that I have successfully set up a shopping cart that allows our readers another way to enjoy our stories. You now have the option of obtaining your e-books via Amazon, Amazon U.K., Barnes & Noble, or of downloading a Zip archive directly from Darwin’s Evolutions that includes the MOBI, EPUB, [...]

More Shameless Self-Promotion

9th June 2011 by Darwin No Comments

Another of my short stories has released via Naked Reader this morning.  The title is “Black Feather, Bright Heart“.  This tale is something of a classic fantasy piece pitting the realms of magic and fairie against humanity and a lone defender who must make hard choices.  Once again, I am very fortunate to have an [...]

Art Rates Revised

5th June 2011 by Darwin No Comments

Quick update here to make it visible for all interested artists. I’ve bumped the rates for illustration art because, although we have a lot of great artists who are willing and able to help out with Darwin’s Evolutions, the truth is that the demand for good art seems to be higher than the demand for [...]

More Update-y Goodness

2nd June 2011 by Darwin 2 Comments

Yay!  We’re making progress! No, really.  We are.  Quit shaking your head.  I’m not lying. So, we’re up to 19 pieces of fiction in the incoming pile.  Better yet, the art is starting to roll in, too.  Al Sirois and Karl Nordman have turned in their illustrations for The Bight and Big-T respectively.  John Dotogowski’s [...]

E-mail games

17th May 2011 by Darwin No Comments

I have heard that several people who have attempted to reply to my editor email address via darwinsevolutions.com have been receiving “bounce” messages.   I apologize for the inconvenience. I am uncertain as to what is causing this issue, but please note that you can still use the contact forms here via the blog to get [...]

Whoopsie.

12th May 2011 by Darwin No Comments

Screwed up the royalty percentages despite all the head sweat I expended earlier.  I’ve corrected the submission pages and the contracts.  I will also be sending out addendums to the contracts I’ve already issued correcting the percentages. Corrected royalty percentages: 50% author, 20% artist, 30% house.  Royalties accrue after “earn-out” number fixed at release date [...]

Oh, How About an Update?

8th May 2011 by Darwin No Comments

Well, first off, say goodbye to the old familiar tag line of “A Journal of Speculative Fiction”.  It’s history along with the whole webzine concept.  Instead, Darwin’s Evolutions should best be thought of as an imprint of Evolutions Publishing (which doesn’t have a logo yet.  Sorry.) Moving on, after a significant amount of banging my [...]
